Dr Simon Opher is the Labour MP for Stroud, elected in 2024, and a long-serving Dursley GP specialising in eye care and mental health. 

He chairs the Stroud Locality NHS, has helped develop local and international clinics, and was awarded an MBE in 2016 for services to healthcare, including work on the Vale Hospital. 

Born in Oxfordshire in 1967, he studied medicine in London and is active in local community organisations and initiatives.
