Alistair Strathern MP

Alistair Strathern became an MP in October 2023 after overturning a large Conservative majority in Mid Bedfordshire, later moving to Hitchin following boundary changes in 2024. He serves as Parliamentary Private Secretary in the Treasury, having previously worked at the Bank of England on climate risk and as a maths teacher.
A former Labour councillor in Waltham Forest, he held the cabinet role for 15-minute neighbourhoods and has a background in housing governance.
Educated at Oxford (PPE), he has been active in politics since his student days and has also participated in environmental activism with Greenpeace.
