Inaugural Meeting of the APPG for Electrical Safety
The APPG for Electrical Safety hosted its Inaugural Meeting on Tuesday 14th April. The meeting took place between 12:00pm – 12:20pm in W2, Westminster Hall.

Introductions
The Chair, Markus Campbell-Savours MP, welcomed attendees to the meeting before confirming that the meeting was quorate for the purposes of registering as a formal General Meeting, with eight parliamentarians in attendance.
Election of Officers
Parliamentarians present voted unanimously in favour of electing the following Officers with a show of hands:
- Markus Campbell-Savours MP (Chair, Labour)
- Lord Rooker (Labour)
- Lord Bourne of Aberystwyth (Conservative)
- Graham Leadbitter MP (SNP)
The Chair confirmed that the cross-party requirements had been met for the formal establishment of the APPG. It was also confirmed that the Group has 20 members.
Secretariat Update
Electrical Safety First confirmed that they would be providing the secretariat for the APPG, with all benefits in kind in the form of staff hours donated to the Group.
Future Work of the Group
There was a discussion about potential priority areas on which the APPG will focus in the coming months. These included:
- Lithium-ion battery safety, with a focus on e-bike battery fires.
- Battery disposal and the upcoming Circular Economy Strategy.
- Electrical safety in the net zero home.
- Online marketplace regulation.
